A Note from Rev. Amy McPherson

"It is a joy, honor, and privilege to serve as your Interim Pastor. I look forward to getting to know each of you and your families. Since it will take some time for us to get to know each other, I wanted to share a little about myself with you all. While I have served at some rather diverse churches of all different denominations in NC, VA, and Germany, the simple truth is I am a follower of Jesus. Each day I pray the Lord will use me as His instrument in whatever way He deems fit. A rather dangerous prayer to pray, but then again, life is a great adventure with God! I have learned to expect the unexpected, and I am excited about our journey together and how God will move and direct us.

My style is collaborative. I love engaging, listening, and learning from others. I earned my Master of Divinity (MDIV) from Campbell University Divinity School, and fully embrace their mission statement as my own, and I hope it will be true of our congregation: to be Christ-Centered, Bible-Based, and Ministry-Focused. We are called to love one another as God loves us. To love our neighbor as ourselves. This will mean stretching ourselves, getting out of our comfort zones, and sharing the love of Jesus with everyone we come in contact with. God is love, and we are called to build bridges, not barriers, so others may feel and come to know the love that is God. I pray that everyone will feel welcome, accepted, and loved when they enter the doors of Damascus Congregational Christian Church. Though God is not confined by the walls of any church, there is something terribly wrong if people do not feel at home in God's house, for it belongs to Him. My prayer is that you all do feel at home, and that all who enter will as well. And when we go back out through those doors, I pray we view those same doors as a "Servants Entrance" to go into the world sharing, giving, and living out the love, mercy, and grace we have received from God.

In Christ's Love,
